The day it happened in HYDERABAD

A chat window from one of my friends popped out of nowhere on my monitor yesterday and it said “Blast in Hyderabad Mosque”, followed by an ibnlive link. So it happened in Hyderabad too… :-(

Those responsible for this despicable act….DAMN you!!! May you rot in hell….in the days of final judgment…

After all, what is it that you intent to proclaim or pretend by hurting these innocent masses? Those rickshaw pullers and daily wage workers, who came to offer their daily prayers, who lost their parents, brothers…. (Thanks to the so called ‘god send marble sheet’ reportedly 400 years old, which took most of the impact of the blast, which would otherwise have been a colossal one). The reaction of the crowd is obvious to some extent, the basic instinct of any human, when he is hurt, to react in violence. It takes a greater soul to control the first tides of anger. However, LONG LIVE HYDERABADIS, I truly admire you guys, after the first wave of violent response, you haven’t taken it to a communal perspective. Hats off to you people, who have thus defeated the primary purpose of those detestable hotheads….

Meanwhile, I have been trying to get a ticket to the IMAX show of spiderman 3, which I couldn’t because of the heavy rush of bookings. So it was third week and I somehow managed to get one. It was then that this news reached me, and Lo! here I was in a big dilemma, whether to seclude myself in my flat or to go out and watch the movie. I took the later choice. Here I think I should mention something that I haven’t confirmed to myself till date. When some mishaps of mass damage like this happens, I think i feel an urge from my inner self, to be there, to go to the spot, For what I don’t know yet (to help…or to be a silent spectator?). But the advices of my mother and the concerns of my family stopped me always from involving into these things and drive my mind away from these thoughts. Maybe some other time....

Soon I was at the theater parking lot. To my surprise I found that people are checked thoroughly even before parking and a few plainclothesmen were doing the entire checking. So the people have reacted, taking essential steps to curb further spread. The stairways leading from the parking level to inside of the complex have also been closed. Good. So I walked around and reached the front of complex and found that entry was only for those holding cinema tickets. Good. This means the shops inside the complex will suffer loss, but I appreciate the decision taken by management. So I claimed my online booked tickets from the counter outside and soon found myself inside the complex.

The usually crowded hallways were empty, with a few people here and there, taking food from the Ohri’s, n silently munching it at their tables, keeping distance from each other. And some standing, leaning on the bordering steel rods of the top floors with intended gaze at the sparse crowd below. I could feel a sense of bitter consciousness among these people. By keeping this distance, I wonder if they are naively displaying a distant hue of insecurity that the events have seeded in their minds.

The film went good. I should say I liked it. Unlike usual superhero films, I think Spiderman 3 shows him in a more human perspective, with the feelings of lost love and the sense of revenge that can get hold of anyone. It was past ten by the time movie got over. And I carefully rode back home. From the amount of traffic in the roads the junctions, the life didn’t seem to be affected. But maybe because, I am also having that feeling of insecurity, I felt that everyone is being conscious and watchful of those around them. I couldn’t find any police checking (a nightmare for all youngsters who ride a foreign registration vehicle on Hyderabad roads) anywhere along the way. All of them must have been deployed to the so called ‘sensitive areas’.

However, I know it is early to write such a blog. I am going to go for my next movie. A Malayalam movie, that came after a long waiting. They have called up a ‘Bandh’ today. Let’s see….
